Sheffield City Centre Wins National Night Time Economy Awards

Sheffield City Centre has been crowned winner of two awards through the National Best Bar None Scheme this week.

The awards ceremony took place in the Houses of Parliament last night and saw Sheffield pick up two of the three awards. The first, award for the Most Innovative Scheme, came with a prize of £1000 and the second, Best Overall Scheme, scooped £5000. All prize money will be reinvested back into the scheme.

The Best Bar None scheme is a national initiative to improve standards in the night time economy. The scheme has a range of goals, from discouraging binge drinking, to highlighting how responsible operating can increase profits. It has now been rolled out across 75 cities in the UK.

The BID’s Administration Manager, Paul Grogan, was recently involved in judging the local Best Bar None Awards. The ceremony for this will take place on the 11th February at Sheffield City Hall. BID Manager Diane Jarvis will be representing the BID and presenting an award on the night.
