Supporting business through the pandemic

Sheffield BID has been a major contributor to creating a vibrant city centre for the last five years. When COVID-19 struck, like many businesses we had to adapt quickly to remain fully operational on limited funding, providing continuity and assurance to businesses still trading.

The practical ways in which we have assisted businesses since March 2020 include ...

800

hours spent maintaining a safe, clean environment by the Clean Team during lockdown,
removing rough sleeper detritus, sharps and hazardous waste daily

780

hours spent patrolling by the Security Team, checking premises and deterring
opportunistic crime whilst the city was in sleep mode

390

hours supporting local businesses, dealing with daily enquiries, sharing
details of COVID grants and lobbying government for further assistance

1

dedicated consumer channel aggregating content around essential retail,
revised opening hours, delivery and additional services (www.sheffieldcitycentre.com)

40+

hours dedicated to supporting the reopening plan,
working with the local authority and South Yorkshire Police

£400,000

free marketing-spend for local businesses, secured from Sheffield-based
My Geo rewards app to encourage people back to the city

#SupportLocal

marketing city centre safety, encouraging people to
shop locally once the city began to reopen
