IMPORTANT MESSAGE: BID Spring Clean clean-up day postponed
Given the current weather forecast of freezing temperatures for the week ahead, Sheffield BID has taken the decision to postpone the day of cleaning involving local businesses planned for Friday 2 March.
This day of cleaning, as part of the BID Spring Clean, has been rescheduled for Friday 16 March. We hope our guest ranger volunteers will still be able to join us on that day.
The health and safety of our participants is of utmost importance and the BID’s concern is that ice presents a risk of slipping and freezing temperatures make for uncomfortable conditions with potential for hypothermia. In addition, heavy snow makes tasks such as litter picking impossible.
Part of the reason for involving businesses in a day of cleaning as part of the BID Spring Clean on 2 March was to support the launch of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean (#GBSpringClean / #LitterHeroes). Many towns and cities taking part in the national initiative are also rearranging their events for a time when the weather is better.
Please confirm your involvement in the BID Spring Clean day of cleaning on 16 March to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The BID Spring Clean, an initiative which is now in its third year, helps to purge the city centre of graffiti. The BID’s Street Rangers will be overseeing the clean-up of seven city centre zones throughout the day of cleaning on 16 March and the BID’s Clean Team will be working to remove graffiti throughout the BID Spring Clean
Diane Jarvis, Sheffield BID manager, said: “Making Sheffield city centre cleaner is one of the BID’s five core objectives. By removing unwelcome graffiti, we hope to make Sheffield a more attractive place to spend time and show our best side to the city’s visitors.
“Throughout the campaign, the BID is offering our Clean Team’s graffiti removal service to privately owned, commercial property, free of charge. We hope that those businesses that are eligible take advantage of our service, to make Sheffield city centre cleaner for all.”
Free graffiti removal remains available to BID Levy Payers throughout the year.Share this article
