New attraction for film festival
An exciting new addition to this year’s Sheffield Adventure Film Festival in March will be a 100-seater mobile cinema.
The celebrated festival, presented by the British Mountaineering Council, returns to the Showroom Cinema from March 17 to 19 as part of The Outdoor City Weekender.
The new mobile cinema has been backed by Sheffield Business Improvement District (BID) to help attract even more visitors to the festival, which has grown year-on-year over the past 12 years.
The Picturehouse Travelling Cinema is an articulated lorry which expands when parked-up to create a 100-seater cinema.
Diane Jarvis, BID manager, said: “This extra screen will increase the capacity of the festival and result in greater visitors to the city centre, which of course is great for all the businesses. It will also provide an amazing visual highlight as part of the festival.”
Sheffield Adventure Film Festival, or ShAFF, brings the wild outdoors into the city centre for three days of jaw dropping spectacle and heart stopping adventure.
2017’s packed programme of films features top athletes and covers the full spectrum of outdoor sports: from running, climbing, biking, skiing, surfing, kayaking – and everything in between.
Matt Heason, the ShAFF Festival Director says: “ShAFF has long celebrated the joy of the great outdoors, offering the very best of global adventure alongside showcasing local talent.”
