Sheffield Makes Music

On Friday, 9th June, ‘Sheffield Makes Music’ will showcase the best and most diverse mix of talent in public spaces, with musical events across the city. The majority of events will be free of charge to attend.

Back for a second year, Sheffield Makes Music will suit every taste, from grime lovers to jazz aficionados. The events are supporting the national BBC Music Day which is scheduled for 15th June.

Diane Jarvis, Manager of the BID which works to enhance the city centre’s image as a vibrant destination to boost visitor numbers, said: “Last year we invested in the scaling up of local events to help deliver a fantastic music day in Sheffield city centre. This year is going to be even better. It’s great to be able to continue our association with BBC Music Day through Sheffield Makes Music.

“The brass band orchestral collaboration which we are sponsoring means that the sheer number of musicians playing together, the popular choice of music and the quality of the performance will add a new and exciting element to this year’s event.

“We have an outstanding music scene which we can leverage to help drive business growth and the visitor economy. The orchestral collaboration will highlight and promote Sheffield’s diverse range of musical organisations, showcasing the quality the city has to offer.”
