This is Sheffield…in the evening
Sheffield Business Improvement District (BID) has published This is Sheffield in the Evening, a guide to all that Sheffield city centre has to offer in the evening.
With the evenings getting warmer and lighter, This Is Sheffield in the Evening promotes the fantastic joint offer of food and drink, shopping, and entertainment that Sheffield city centre has to offer after 5pm.
It is the third in a series of This Is Sheffield guides to be produced by the BID, and follows This Is Sheffield, a comprehensive guide to the city centre, and This is Sheffield at Christmas, which promoted the city centre’s festive offering.
The guide features Sheffield’s legendary music venues, dynamic restaurant scene, world-famous beer and ale spots, and features on some of the city centre’s most exciting new additions, including Birdhouse Tea Bar and Kitchen and Public, the bar in the Town Hall’s old public toilets.
This is Sheffield in the Evening also features guides to enjoying cultural evenings, featuring Sheffield city centre’s museums, cinemas, theatres and galleries; relaxing evenings, guiding people to the spas, swimming pools and yoga classes people can attend in the evening; late evenings, with information on pubs and clubs in the city centre, and something a little different, with activities including ring making, the Great Escape Game and ghost tours.
Diane Jarvis, Sheffield BID Manager, said: “One of the BID’s core projects is Alive After Five, a strategy which aims to boost Sheffield’s early evening economy by promoting a joint offer of food and drink, shopping, and entertainment.
“This is Sheffield in the Evening is a comprehensive guide to the city centre in the evening, and we hope the guide encourages more people to explore and enjoy Sheffield city centre after 5pm as we enter spring.”
Sheffield BID’s Alive After Five strategy aims to tackle the idea that Sheffield city centre closes down at 5pm. Through the publication of This is Sheffield in the Evening, daily updates on www.sheffafter5.com, parking from just £1 after 4:30pm in Sheffield City Council car parks and flagship events Dine Sheffield and Style Sheffield, Alive After Five aims to bring about a step change in Sheffield’s early evening economy.
As well as promoting things to do in the evenings in the city centre, This is Sheffield in the Evening promotes Sheffield as a safe night out, following the city being awarded a Purple Fag award for providing a safe and welcoming night out for the seventh year running in 2018, and winning two awards at the 2018 National Best Bar None Awards, which recognises cities which work to reduce alcohol related crime by rewarding responsible management of evening and night time venues.
This is Sheffield in the Evening has been distributed to thousands of homes across Sheffield, at key points across the city centre including the Winter Garden and can also be viewed online.Share this article
