Brearley Bear returns for a brand-new festive adventure

The much-loved Sheffield Christmas Trail will return this festive season, with Brearley Bear leading families on a brand-new adventure across Sheffield city centre from Saturday 28 November until Christmas Eve.

Created by Sheffield BID, the annual trail encourages families to explore the city centre, discover participating businesses and enjoy a festive day out together during the Christmas period.

At the heart of the Trail is Brearley Bear, Sheffield BID's registered family mascot, named after Harry Brearley, the Sheffield-born inventor of stainless steel.

Since the Trail was first launched in 2018, Brearley Bear has become a familiar festive character for thousands of children and families visiting the city centre each Christmas.

Families will be able to collect a Trail Map from the Visitor Welcome Hub on Surrey Street before following clues hidden at participating venues across the city centre. Those who successfully complete the challenge will be invited to return to the Hub to claim a free gift for every participating child.

Now firmly established as one of the city centre's most popular festive family activities, the Sheffield Christmas Trail helps thousands of children and their families discover different parts of Sheffield city centre during the Christmas period.

Diane Jarvis, Chief Executive Officer at Sheffield BID:

"Brearley Bear has become a familiar part of Christmas for many families and we're delighted to be bringing him back with a brand-new adventure this year.

"The Trail is designed to encourage families to spend time together, explore the city centre and discover some of the fantastic businesses, venues and attractions that make Sheffield such a vibrant place during the festive season.

"It's a simple concept, but one that creates real excitement for children while supporting a welcoming and family-friendly city centre experience."

The Trail will lead families through a range of city centre locations, encouraging exploration of both well-known destinations and hidden gems whilst adding another layer of festive activity to Sheffield's Christmas offer.

As well as providing a free family activity, the Trail helps increase footfall across the city centre and supports businesses during one of the most important trading periods of the year.

The Sheffield Christmas Trail forms part of Sheffield BID's wider Experience Sheffield proposition, which encourages people to discover, explore and enjoy more of Sheffield city centre throughout the year.

The Sheffield Christmas Trail runs from Saturday 28 November until Thursday 24 December.
