The Tramlines Fringe is Sheffield BID’s original signature event, first launched in 2018 to capitalise on the opportunities created by the main Tramlines Festival at Hillsborough.
Taking place across the city centre over the festival weekend, the Fringe brings live music, activity and visitors into bars, venues and public spaces - redirecting festival energy into the heart of the city.
Typically attracting around 40,000 visitors over the summer weekend, the Tramlines Fringe provides a significant boost to city centre trading. In the most recent delivery, the festival generated an estimated £1.86 million uplift for the city centre economy, underlining its importance as a business‑led intervention supporting hospitality, leisure and the wider visitor economy.
Delivered on behalf of levy‑paying businesses, the Fringe demonstrates the value of aligning city centre investment with major regional events to maximise economic impact.
